A “cassava bio concrete“ house

The project "Low-Carbon Livelihoods – Cassava Residues for Performance Materials (Local-Care)" started on January 1. In cooperation with BAM, Dr. Kolawole Olonade from Obafemi Awolowo University received the "German African Innovation Incentive Award" for this project research idea.

A delegation from East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) visited BAM last week. Since both ECUST and BAM have similar fields of research the visit was seen as a potential starting point for a future cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Ulrich Panne has been elected a member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). acatech brings together the best minds in science and in the industry.

At the beginning of February, parliamentary state secretary Uwe Beckmeyer honoured the 18 best graduates of 2017 who completed their vocational training at the BMWi and its subordinate agencies. Among them are the three best graduates from BAM.

New materials for LNG transport tanks

Philipp Kutz of the Tanks for Dangerous Goods and Accident Mechanics Division is researching new materials and their potential uses. He recently received the Young Scientist Award from the Bielefeld Institute for Applied Materials Research (BIfAM) for his master's thesis.
