Amendments to BAM certifications

BAM ceases its certification activities for a number of products. These include pressure regulators, flame arresters, gas backflow valves, gas detectors and a number of safety assessments.

200 representatives visited the "MaterialDigital" information workshop. The event served to coordinate between the applicants and the platform.

The delegation visited BAM to exchange on different aspects such as safety, production, transport, storage and forms of application of hydrogen.

Together with international partners BAM performed an experimental study of londsdaleite-rich diamond crystals from the Popigai crater. The results have now been published by the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) as "Highlight 2019".

BAM leads new 3.9 Mio EUR project on structural health monitoring of safety relevant structures

The Guided Waves for Structural Health Monitoring (GW4SHM) project brings together 20 partners from academia and industry across Europe to train a new generation of researchers in all aspects of structural health monitoring (SHM).

BAM has teamed up with the Diamond Light Source to bring you an ongoing series of online lectures. The lectures focus on early career researchers in materials science using scattering and diffraction techniques as part of their research.

At the Business Plan Competition Berlin-Brandenburg 2020, BAM start-up CerAMing scored a first place and impressed the jury with their patented 3D printing process for ceramic building components.

BAM promotes the use of open source software

BAM is specifically promoting the creation and use of Free and Open-Source Software in scientific research as well as all their other delegated tasks. Therefore, BAM President Prof. Dr. Ulrich Panne has signed a declaration.

BAM has launched a new programme to promote outstanding young scientists. The first junior research group call is online - interested researchers can apply and submit short proposals until May 31.

New head of the materials testing department: Prof. Dr. Robert Maaß is moving to BAM from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he will also supervise doctoral students.

The call for participation is now open for the interlaboratory comparison on "Surface analysis of oxide nanoparticles" using Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) for new standards in ISO/TC 201 and/or TC 229.
