The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.

Your responsibilities include:
The employee will support BAM in ensuring that modern digital concepts shape future materials research and testing. To this end, participation in key digitalization initiatives including NFDI-MatWerk, MaterialDigital at the national and other projects at the European level will be crucial. The aim is to ensure cross-project coordination and content design for these activities in order to achieve sustainable progress. The tasks include:
- Positioning BAM as an institution that plays a pioneering role in the development of guidelines for handling research data in materials science and engineering
- Integrating industrial requirements (e.g., digital product passport) into the materials science workflow
- Advancing and advising on digital solutions for tasks related to the technical safety of products and processes
- Providing impetus for existing and initiating new third-party funded research projects and research collaborations
- Coordination, preparation, execution and reporting of project events, workshops and tutorials
Your qualifications:
- A university degree (diploma/master's) with very good grades in physics, chemistry, computer science, materials science or a comparable field
- A very good doctorate in physics, chemistry, computer science, materials science or a related field
- Proven publication experience in the above-mentioned areas in scientific journals
- Solid knowledge in the field of computer simulations for materials engineering and materials science issues
- Very good programming skills (e.g. Python, C++)
- Expertise in dealing with FAIR workflows in context of data management
- Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding and in project management
- Very good written and spoken English
- Very good written and spoken German is an advantage
- Good communication and information behaviour, initiative/commitment and ability, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, as well as flexibility
