The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:
Scientific processing of the ZIM project “Real-time artifact tracking and monitoring for cultural heritage.” The aim of the project is to develop a museum display case that optimally protects art and cultural assets from harmful environmental influences. A novel test procedure is to be developed that precisely and quickly simulates and evaluates realistic emission conditions inside display cases. In detail:
- Technical implementation of the generation of test gas atmospheres
- Setup and monitoring of a test bench for testing the test procedure under varying test conditions (temperature, relative humidity, duration, air exchange rate, and flow velocity)
- Evaluation, documentation, and reporting
- Preparation of publications
Your qualifications:
- Successfully completed university degree in chemistry, Environmental Science and Technology, or a comparable field
- Doctorate is desirable
- Very good technical knowledge in the field of active and passive sampling and analysis of airborne volatile organic compounds (VVOC, VOC, SVOC) using GC/MS with thermal desorption IC and HPLC analysis
- Good knowledge of and practical experience with methods for generating test gas mixtures, e.g., from the ISO 6145 series
- Knowledge of sampling in display cases with low air exchange rates
- Good knowledge of the validation of measurement methods
- Experience in the independent processing of third-party funded projects
- Very good command of written and spoken German and English
- Very good presentation and publication skills
- Good communication and information skills, goal-oriented and structured approach to work, initiative/commitment, ability to work in a team and cooperate, as well as conceptual, strategic, and innovative thinking skills
