The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:
Independent research and development as part of an energy research programme run by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) (third-party funded project VH2109) within the framework of the joint project S3dEL ‘Safety and Security for the Scale-Up of Decentralised Electrolysis Plants’, specifically in the BAM sub-project ‘Development of a Test Method for Non-Metallic Materials for Use in Electrolysis Plants’. This includes:
- Organisation of the project
- Investigation of material suitability for applications in oxygen and electrolysis plants
- Further development of existing test methods and development of new test methods
- Design and construction of a new test bench for investigating material suitability for applications in oxygen and electrolysis plants
Your qualifications:
- Completed university degree (diploma/master's) in a natural science or engineering subject with a focus on safety engineering or energy and process engineering; a doctorate is an advantage
- Experience in conducting third-party funded R&D projects and corresponding scientific project management is desirable.
- Experience with experimental work, measurement technology and test evaluation
- Knowledge of the safe handling of oxygen or other oxidising gases
- Knowledge of the safe handling of hydrogen
- Very good verbal and written communication skills in German and English are required
- Physical fitness and willingness to perform manual and practical work in the testing laboratory; technical and mechanical training is advantageous
- Willingness to travel for face-to-face events within the scope of the project, as well as for events within the scope of knowledge transfer and for lectures
- Good communication and information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment and ability to make decisions, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
