The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.

Your responsibilities include:

Development and application of acoustic emission analysis (SEA) in Department 8:

  • Scientific and technical support for ongoing research and development projects
  • Conceptualization and development of new applications
  • Combination with complementary methods (e.g., ultrasound, guided waves)
  • Coordination and initiation of new R&D projects, including cross-departmental projects in the field of acoustic emission analysis
  • Support work on BAM's focus areas and strategy processes

Your qualifications:

  • Completed university degree (Master's/Diploma) in physics, geophysics, electrical engineering, measurement technology or similar with a doctorate
  • Several years of professional experience or research in the field of SEA, particularly localization
  • Knowledge and experience with physical measurement technology
  • Knowledge and experience in non-destructive testing and seismic measurement methods
  • Very good knowledge of at least one programming language
  • Good German and very good written and spoken English
  • Willingness to work at several BAM locations and to travel to project partners, international conferences, and trade fairs throughout Germany
  • Experience in acquiring research projects
  • Experience in working with measurement technology from Vallen is an advantage
  • Good communication and information skills, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment and ability to work independently, decision-making skills and ability, as well as strong team spirit and willingness to cooperate
