The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:
The MaterialDigital initiative supports industry and science in the digitalisation of materials. The aim is to establish a digital infrastructure for innovative projects and an integrated virtual material data room. The position is dedicated to the development of such an infrastructure for glasses, with a focus on simulations and AI methods. The resulting methods will lead to the development of new glasses, their targeted optimisation and more efficient production processes.>Your tasks:
- Participation in the development of a software infrastructure for the MaterialDigital project
- Creation of simulation models for glasses, including the development of machine-learned potentials
- Carrying out and analysing atomistic simulations for glasses
- Contributing to the project and presenting the results in publications and conferences
Your qualifications:
- Completed scientific university degree in Physics or Materials Science
- very good;PhD;
- Solid knowledge in the field of ab initio and atomistic simulations on material technology or material science issues
- Solid knowledge of the mechanics, thermodynamics and kinetics of silicate glasses
- several publications in the above-mentioned fields in scientific journals
- Experience in working with experimental partners
- ;Very good knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Python C++);
- Experience with high-throughput calculations, data management and the necessary digital infrastructure
- ;Very good verbal and written communication skills in English
- ;Good communication and information behaviour, initiative/willingness and ability to work in a team, willingness to cooperate and flexibility
