PhD Student (m/f/d) for additive manufacturing of ceramics and mechanical characterization

Salary group 13 TVöD
Temporary contract for 36 months

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Your responsibilities include:

PhD student in the BMBF-junior research group TransNanoAF (Link: https://www.bam.de/Content/DE/Standardartikel/Themen/nachwuchsgruppe-johanna-saenger.html)

  • Structure of high-resolution ceramic components using 2PP and hybrid printing processes
  • Mechanical and optical characterization of 2PP-printed ceramic components
  • Contribute to the implementation of the digitization project in the Vh5041 project
  • Creation of the doctoral thesis
  • Supervision of students

Your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master's/Diploma) in the field of materials science, engineering or a comparable field
  • Knowledge of the mechanical characterization of ceramics
  • Experience in additive manufacturing, ideally with light-based AM processes such as DLP and 2PP is an advantage
  • Experience with the ceramic process chain, slip preparation, shaping and sintering is an advantage
  • Affinity for digital tools and data processing
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
  • Good communication and information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, flexibility as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
