The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Coupling a laser ablation (LA) system with a MC-ICP-MS
  • Adding an additional ICP-MS instrument via "split stream"
  • Isotope ratio analysis of samples from various fields with LA-MC-ICP-MS
  • Contribution to the certification of isotope reference materials

Your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of chemistry, analytical chemistry, geochemistry or comparable
  • Very good doctorate in one of these fields
  • Hands-on experience with MC-ICP-MS is required
  • Experience with isotope ratio analysis is required
  • Hands-on experience with Laser Ablation is advantageous
  • Experience with machine learning is advantageous
  • Hands-on experience with TMS ist advantageous
  • Basic knowledge metrology and reference material certification is advantageous
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English is required
  • Good communication and information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment, willingness to learn as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
