Maximum safety and productivity with minimum weight
Lightweight construction is a key technology in many industrial sectors to achieve the goals of sustainability and climate protection. The term lightweight construction covers all technologies that contribute to a reduction in the weight of parts and components and thus to resource efficiency. This can be achieved through the use of lighter materials, the more efficient use of existing materials and the use of innovative technologies. BAM's research in the field of lightweight construction includes polymer materials and composite components for wind turbines and hydrogen storage systems, lightweight concretes made from recycled demolition materials, joining techniques for high-strength steels and new metal composites as well as additive manufacturing with increased material efficiency.
