Various chemical containers with different labeling

Different hazard classes often apply to a chemical, which must be suitably combined to ensure safe use.

Due to their special properties, hazardous substances are required in numerous applications and are therefore of great economic and social importance. However, the safe handling, manufacture, transportation, storage and use of these substances and objects requires that hazards are controllable. BAM determines and evaluates these hazards for various scenarios, including the containment of dangerous goods. New and innovative substances and products can thus be made available for the market without risk and used safely.

Many of our tasks in this area are legally assigned to BAM. We develop the necessary testing and evaluation procedures and transfer the resulting findings and data to the state of the art. Modern methods enable an in-depth understanding of molecular relationships in the conversion of substances and provide important information on macroscopic properties, such as stability under defined conditions during storage, transportation, and use.
