BAM opens a parent-and-child office
BAM has opened the first parent-and-child office at the Adlershof site. This service is intended for all employees of BAM, to support them for periods when care for their children is not available in the short term.

The 6th Forum on Experiences in Market Monitoring at BAM (“ERFA-MÜ”) was held on 1 and 2 June 2016 at BAM. The Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Postal Services and Railroads issued an invitation in cooperation with industrial and commercial representatives.

Dr. Michael Nitsche becomes new chairman of Accreditation Advisory Board
On 6 June 2016, the Accreditation Advisory Board elected Dr.-Ing. Michael Nitsche, Head of the Quality Infrastructure department of BAM, as its new chairman. Dr. Michael Nitsche succeeds Prof. Dr. Manfred Peters, the former vice-president of the National Metrology Institute of Germany.

Students of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences at BAM
Students of mechanical engineering and environmental IT from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences visited BAM this week. In BAM's Non-Destructive Damage Assessment and Environmental Measurement Methods division, they learned about various physical concrete testing methods.

German Committee for Steel Construction research prize awarded to Dustin Hässler
Dustin Hässler of BAM's Fire Engineering division receiving the first research prize of the German Committee for Steel Construction for his research into the use of reactive fire protection systems on complex steel tension members.

Well-attended – BAM provides insights into research
As part of the “Long Night of Science” on 11 June, BAM offered an insight into its engineering and chemical research at its Berlin-Adlershof site. Just under 400 people demonstrated an interest and participated in the opportunity to experience science up close and personal, from midday to midnight.

BAM and ISAS Leibniz Institute bring ellipsometry conference to Berlin
From 5 to 10 June, the 7th International Conference on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (ICSE-7) was held in Berlin. This conference, which has been held regularly in various countries since 1993, was organised this year by both BAM and the Leibniz Institute for Analytical Sciences – ISAS – e.V.
