Our research priority is the development of efficient methods for modelling and simulation of materials and structures with a focus on civil structures using multiscale methods in space and time and taking multiphysics phenomena into account.

Another main research project in the context of a digital twin is the development of an integrated methodology for model calibration from experimental tests and monitoring data by using stochastic methods. This comprises methods and algorithms for a reliable prognosis of the future performance of structures.

In this regard, a particular focus is the development of methodologies to assess the robustness and reliability of simulation results, taking into account many different sources of uncertainty, such as measurement errors, model errors, simulation errors or calibration errors.
