Description

The digital object identifier links product data clearly and forgery-proof with real components. In the project DOI4AM, additively manufactured components are uniquely identified and securely authenticated using machine-readable codes and characteristic microstructural features - just like a fingerprint.

Components that are produced using additive manufacturing can be marked for unique identification and secure authentication. Serial numbers and machine-readable codes can be used to identify the component, and characteristic microstructure features such as micropores can even be used to securely authenticate it - just like a fingerprint. Digital product data, like in a digital product passport, can be linked uniquely and forgery-proof to real components. The objectives of the project are the development, testing and implementation of an authentication workflow for additively manufactured components for two component geometries of different materials and use cases. The realization of a software solution that equips a market-ready digital product passport with this unique authentication method is the final aim.

Common objectives of both partners

BAM is focusing on validating the authentication method to create a reliable basis. During the test phase of various component geometries, the system requirements for computed tomography scans will also be assessed to ensure a seamless integrated of the authentication method via a software interface (API) into the DPP workflow. Finally, a business model for licensing and commercialization will be developed.
Additiv Marking is expanding its existing digital product passports software with a functional unit for authenticating components. The cooperation between BAM and Additive Marking takes secure authentication and digital product passport management into a practical business model. The pooling of expertise creates new market potential and sets innovative standards.
