Access to and participation in science is not always and everywhere as natural for women and girls as it should be. Since 2015, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science has therefore been a reminder of the decisive role played by female researchers - in key inventions but also in everyday scientific life.
At BAM, numerous female chemists, physicists, engineers, environmental scientists and humanities scholars work together to make technologies and materials even safer. Today we introduce some of them who tell a bit about their work why they have chosen a career in science. And, what advice they would give to girls and women:
Dr. Andrea Koerdt, Microbiologist
"My advice to all women is to fulfill your dreams, don't let anyone discourage you or convince you that you can't do it."

Theresa Sichler, Environmental Scientist
"I believe that many women and girls already have the versatility needed and are more hesitant because of a lack of knowledge in a particular area. Dare to join in! You don't have to enter a topic as an expert"
