The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

Processing of a research project on the digitalisation of ceramic multilayer production in cooperation with the MaterialDigital platform with the following subtasks:

  • Development of a DEM simulation to predict the densification of ceramic-filled polymers through thermocompression
  • Preparation of the simulation results for automated transfer to onthologies or subsequent simulations
  • Conception and implementation of the experimental validation of the simulations
  • Construction and characterisation of demonstrators in ceramic multilayer production
  • Acquisition of process and material data for contextualisation in ontology-based knowledge system
  • Publication of the results

Your qualifications:

  • University degree (diploma/ masters) in a relevant field (materials science, computational Science and engineering, physics or comparable course of studies) focusing on simulation of material behaviour
  • Very good knowledge of DEM, ideally LAMMPS /LIGGGTHS
  • Experience with pyiron is advantageous
  • Knowledge of ceramic materials and processes, especially tape casting and multilayer technology or LTCC technology is advantageous
  • Reliable, independent and team-oriented way of working
  • Conceptually thinking ability
  • A high degree of iniative and willingness to learn
  • Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of German
