The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

  • Development and validation of acoustic emission methods for condition monitoring of sealing structures for nuclear waste repositories, participation in the TFP project SealWasteSafe
  • Development and validation of acoustic emission methods for condition monitoring of concrete structures as well as other structures and facilities
  • Development and validation of acoustic emission methods for early damage detection in materials or components in the context of laboratory tests
  • Development and validation of novel simulation and validation methods for acoustic emission tests
  • Writing of applications for third party funding
  • Preparing reports and contributing to national and international publications
  • Active participation in knowledge transfer into practice

Your qualifications:

  • Academic degree at a university / technical college in the field of technical acoustics, electrical engineering, process engineering or similar with a very good promotion
  • Sound theoretical knowledge in the field of acoustic emission testing and/or acoustic emission analysis
  • Practical experience with acoustic measurement techniques and data analysis
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the field of acoustic wave simulation
  • Good communication and information skills, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment, willingness and ability to make decisions, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
  • Proven publication record in the relevant research area
  • Very good English skills, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
  • Availability for field work at the BAM Test Site Technical Safety
  • Driving license class B
