The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

After a first training helping to familiarize with the polymers for calibration and the operation of the atomic force microscope with IR-photothermal excitation, the duties include:

  • digitization and analysis of already accessible plus supplementary control channels and information channels
  • preparation of self-made film samples provided with piezo excitation to perform calibration of the photothermal signals
  • publication of the results in peer-reviewed journals
  • presentation of the results at international/national symposia and conferences unless the corona problem prevents it

Your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master or equivalent) in the field of physics/experimental physics
  • Practical experience and knowledge in atomic force microscopy, physics of polymers, piezoelectrics, ultrasonic generation and measurement, photothermal measurement methods and nanotech are advantageous
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Commitment, ability to cooperate and work in a team
