Research assistant (m/w/d) in the field of Nanotechnology or in the field of Physics or Chemistry related to nanotechnology

Salary group 13 TVöD

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Your responsibilities include:

Completion of scientific tasks within the EU project Nanorigo. This includes in particular:

  • Provision of high quality data and standardised instructions
  • Contributions to creation of a sustainable European NanoRisk Governance Council (NRGC)
  • Ensure coherence and synergy of the developed CFCs with relevant EU, EU-US and OECD policies
  • Dissemination and exploitation of results


Your qualifications:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master or equivalent) in the field of nanotechnology or in the field of physics or chemistry related to nanotechnology
  • Experience and knowledge in measuring the physico-chemical properties of nanomaterials (e.g. electron microscopy, electron, X-ray and ion spectroscopy/microscopy), sample preparation, data reduction and data management, with links to nano-safety
  • Basic knowledge and experience in the field of metrology, standardisation and inter-laboratory comparisons
  • Good written and spoken English and German
  • Good skills in scientific writing and presentation to an audience
  • High level of motivation and commitment, cooperation and team spirit as well as mobility and creativity for work in an interdisciplinary environment
