The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Your responsibilities include:


Research in the field of rheology of construction matrials; specific tasks include:

  • Research in polymer interactions with inorganic binders. Polysaccharides and polycarboxylate ethers are of particular importance.
  • Collaboration in ongoing research projects related to rheology
  • Development of methods for ongoing and future research, in particular small amplitude oscillatory shear rheometry, thixotropy, rheo-microscopy
  • Development of innovative methods and method combinations
  • Supervision of young academics
  • Publication, internal and external presentation of results

Your qualifications:

  • Scientific degree in Civil Engineering, Material Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science or equivalent academic studies
  • Completed PhD
  • Profound knowledge and experiences in the fields of concrete technology and minerally bound construction materials
  • Proficiency in rheology and early hydration of cementitious materials
  • Practical experiences in laboratory work and experimental setup
  • Evident scientific track record
  • Articulate expression in German and English
  • Aptitude for interdisciplinary collaboration
