The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.

Your responsibilities include:
- Design, construction and characterisation of flexible magnetic field sensors for outdoor use
- Conducting suitable climate tests to check long-term stability
- Design and construction of suitable downstream electronics
- Conducting tests in the laboratory and field trials
- Creating and implementing utilisation strategies
Your qualifications:
- Completed university degree (Master's/Diploma) in physics, physical engineering, technical computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar, with a completed doctorate
- Knowledge of the design, development, construction and characterisation of new sensors
- Knowledge and practical experience in the field of analogue and digital circuit technology and digital signal processing
- Knowledge of magnetic sensors, in particular magnetoresistive sensors is an advantage
- Knowledge of magnetic flux leakage and eddy current testing and non-destructive testing (NDT) in general is an advantage
- Knowledge of flexible sensor technology and electronics is an advantage
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. C, Python or LabVIEW)
- Knowledge of starting a business or implementing various exploitation strategies is an advantage
- Very good written and spoken German
- Good written and spoken English
- Good communication and information skills, initiative/commitment and ability to take action, decision-making skills and ability, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
