The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.

Your responsibilities include:
- MI Project IE2501 “Safe Hydrogen Networks: ML-Supported Safety Analysis and Optimized Sensor Placement”
- Research in the field of safety assessment of chemical plants using HAZOP analysis
- Use of process modeling and simulation to enhance quantitative assessments
- Use of machine learning to support HAZOP discussions with the aim of obtaining a doctorate
Your qualifications:
- Successfully completed university degree (diploma/master's) in energy and process engineering, chemical engineering or comparable
- In-depth knowledge of nonlinear, robust control engineering
- Knowledge of machine learning (deep learning)
- Basic knowledge of computer science or software development, e.g., using Java, Python, or C++
- Good communication and information skills, goal-oriented and structured approach to work, initiative/commitment, ability to work in a team and cooperate, as well as conceptual, strategic, and innovative thinking skills
