The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:

  • work in the ZIM research project ATLAMP - Active Thermography with laser excitation for in-situ detection of defects during additive manufacturing in metal powder bed fusion
  • assistance in setup and commissioning of a powder-based metal 3D-printer
  • conduct and data-driven analysis of experiments
  • programming of analysis routines (Python/Matlab)
  • control and operation of camera systems
  • assistance in the setup of a plant- and machine control

Your qualifications:

  • student in major or master study in above mentioned field or comparable
  • very good programming skills in Python, Matlab
  • experience in control engineering
  • fluent in German and/or English
  • profound usage of MS Office
  • experience in laser- and camera technology desired
  • experimental skills and interest in photography preferred
