Thermographic Methods

Division 8.3

The Thermographic Methods division develops solutions for non-destructive testing and measurement technology problems in the field of thermography.

These solutions can be employed with great flexibility in industrial production processes, for quality assurance, for inspection and monitoring, and for repair. Investigations can be performed without any material destruction or contact at both very small and very large distances.

Metallic and non-metallic materials as well as composite material systems can be tested at various length scales ranging from micron cracks up to 100 m long rotor blades. Due to high testing speed and high grade of automation, the method is inline-capable.

    • High-end thermography cameras at different wavelengths, up to 1280 x 1024 pixels, temperature resolution down to 20 mK
    • Arrays of flash lamps up to 24 kJ
    • Arrays of halogen lamps up to 5 kW
    • Diode laser system up to 500 W optical output power at 940 nm with with integrateable beam expansion
    • VCSEL laser array up to 2.4 kW optical output power at 980 nm, with 12 controllable single sources
    • LED array up to 110 W optical output power at 850 nm
    • induction generator up to 5 kW
    • Radiation detectors, heat flow sensors, reference radiators, mechanical actuators, etc.
