Using materials sustainably and safely
Material cycles must be closed to achieve climate targets. Rethinking material and product design, effective recycling of residual materials and greater consideration of secondary raw materials are essential for this. The concept of a circular economy takes these ideas into account.
In the field of circular economy, BAM is researching new possibilities for material design and innovative applications of materials. As a legally mandated body, we advise the German government on EU legislation on product efficiency. We also conduct research into material recycling and develop reference materials for quality assurance of secondary raw materials. In this way, we generally strengthen confidence in recycled materials. We are involved in national and European standardization committees on circular economy and material efficiency.

Our focus in the area of circular economy
