The Ceramic Processing and Biomaterials division examines the additive manufacturing of ceramic components and the development of additive manufacturing methods. This division hosts extensive know-how ranging from materials synthesis to the processing of ceramic powders and slips to the development of technologies and processes.

A particular challenge in this connection is the additive manufacturing of bone graft material with the diverse and stringent requirements imposed upon it in terms of reliability and biocompatibility. The examination of relevant characteristic indicators through external partnerships and under in-vivo conditions allows for the provision of networked problem and technology-centric expertise in the development and testing of biomaterials and implants.
