Dangerous goods containment systems range from dangerous goods packaging, canisters, boxes, barrels and compressed gas cylinders to tank trucks, tank containers and storage tanks to transport containers for radioactive materials (e.g. CASTOR®) and containers for the interim and final storage of radioactive waste.
Our task is to test, evaluate and approve the containment of dangerous goods in order to protect people, material goods and the environment from the risks that can arise during the transport, storage and depositing of dangerous goods.
We also focus on transport, storage and deposition issues for lithium batteries and hydrogen. In cooperation with partners in research and industry, we are developing new materials for energy storage systems that drive the energy transition.
In all areas, our research contributes to improving test specifications and regulations at national and international level. In this way, we ensure safety in the transport and storage of hazardous goods and the safe use of new energies.
