Proteins are the most important and diverse class of substances in medicine, bioengineering and food analysis, constituting one of the greatest challenges in analytical chemistry. In the pharmaceutical industry, most new developments are based on proteins that generate revenues in the billions and enable treatments of formerly incurable diseases. In foods, the protein content is one of the most important nutrient components.

The Protein Analysis division concerns itself with the development and establishment of precise and reliable methods to detect protein content as a sum parameter for industrial and research applications. We also work on methods for the highly selective analysis of individual or multiple parameters in extremely complex mixtures, for instance biomarkers in blood plasma to enable safe, cost-efficient diagnostics, e.g. for SARS-CoV-2.
