Brazil visits Berlin: Prof. Carlos Augusto de Azevedo, president of the Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia (INMETRO) visited BAM in September. In a conversation with BAM president Prof. Dr. Ulrich Panne and Dr. Pedro Dolabella Portella, head of the Materials Engineering department, de Azevedo underlined the importance of the long-term collaboration between BAM and INMETRO in the fields of chemistry and materials science.
In 2018, BAM and INMETRO will jointly promote the development and marketing of certified reference materials. Collaborative projects, for example, reference bodies for the calibration of an ultrasound-based procedure, are being developed for the rapid and low-stress assessment of osteoporosis in medical practice. In addition, the two institutes will continue to cooperate in international organisations (BIPM, VAMAS, WMRIF).
INMETRO, as the Brazilian National Institute of Metrology and Quality, is committed to improving the quality of life of Brazilian citizens and the competitiveness of the Brazilian economy. At its headquarters in the state of Rio de Janeiro, INMETRO has state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities.
