The 6th Forum on Experiences in Market Monitoring at BAM (“ERFA-MÜ”) was held on 1 and 2 June 2016 at BAM. The Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Postal Services and Railroads issued an invitation in cooperation with industrial and commercial representatives to participate in this two-day forum.

The participants were welcomed by Prof. Ulrich Panne, President of BAM, which as the senior federal authority in accordance with tradition provided the premises for the ERFA-MÜ. Senior civil servant Stefan Schnorr, Head of the Digital and Innovation Policy department of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and also Chairman of the BAM Board of Trustees, highlighted in his welcome speech the growing importance of online commerce in Germany and the challenges to be overcome in this connection.

The focus on both days of the event was on empirical articles on topics related to various aspects of market monitoring as well as introductory presentations followed by a discussion on topics such as collaborative data management. This was a discussion and information forum for authorities tasked with matters relating to market monitoring and other interested parties from all sectors involved in this field, aiming to optimise the process of recognition, appointment and notification. The event was overseen by BAM's Quality Infrastructure department under the guidance of Dr. Michael Nitsche.
