To strengthen our team in the division “Experimental and Model Based Mechanical Behaviour of Materials” in Berlin-Steglitz, starting immediately, we are looking for a

Postdoc in Engineering Informatics/Data Science

Salary group E14 TVöD
Temporary contract for 36 months

The position is part of a strategic project aiming at developing online data resources for both academia and industry, providing quick and userfriendly access to core information obtained by BAM’s analysis and testing activities.

Your responsibilities include:

- Setting up a data resource for mechanical data of metallic materials (e. g. for high temperature applications such as aircraft propulsion systems) and related information
- The work topic combines elements of database design, software engineering and data analysis
- Analysis of the structure of existing datasets and independent development of an adequate database setup which enables unlimited data access for subsequent analysis procedures
- Implementation of the database solution
- Development and programming of a user-oriented web-based front end, involving adapted visualization and data analytics tools.

Your qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Informatics, Computational Science, Data Analytics or closely related fields
- Completed PhD on a corresponding topic with excellent results
- Strong programming skills, including knowledge of Python, C++ and JavaScript
- Proven experience in the setup and operation of databases and/or in data analytics
- Basic knowledge in materials
- Strong command of the English and German languages
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently
