Oliver, you are an installation mechanic trainee for sanitation, heating and air conditioning at BAM. How did you come across BAM as a training organisation and why did you choose this profession?

I have always wanted to do something concerned with manual labour. A classmate told me about his traineeship at BAM, so I applied. I have never regretted my career choice and I knew what to expect.

Your vocational school offers teaching blocks. What does this mean?

We go to school for two weeks followed by six weeks at a training organisation.

Your training includes a six-week specialised internship in Finland. How did you get the idea?

The two trainees in the years above me told me about their internships in France. I was very interested as it was something I wanted to do, so I also looked for an internship. I am going to Finland on my own and I look forward to getting to know the Finnish working practices as well as the country and its culture. I have already participated in the preparation seminar for the internship where we were told what to expect. I think it’s very good that BAM supports its trainees in pursuing internships abroad during their training periods. I also have the support of my parents.
