Great minds, 3 minutes, 1 day - on 2 October 2020, young scientists and young professionals will again be able to present their research projects, ideas and initiatives in 3 minutes each.

What is it about?

The Falling Walls Lab Adlershof is the North German preliminary round jointly organized by BAM and the research network IGAFA. This year the winner of each international Falling Walls Lab qualifies for the category "Emerging Talents" of the conference Falling Walls Remote 2020 - The Breakthroughs of the Year, which will take place from 4 to 9 November 2020. Falling Walls Remote 2020 brings together the world's brightest minds and most exciting scientific advances to stimulate a discussion on how science and innovation can contribute to the future of our world.

Who can join in?

Eligible to participate are scientists and scholars whose highest degree

  • the doctorate completed no more than 5 years ago,
  • the Master's degree or diploma awarded not more than 7 years previously
    or
  • is the bachelor's degree that was awarded no more than 10 years ago.

Applications can be submitted online until September 6, 2020.

What does the winner of the Lab expect?

The winner of the Falling Walls Lab Adlershof will be one of the 100 lab finalists worldwide and will receive access to the Falling Walls Remote 2020 conference including an extended program with workshops, pitch training, digital community platform etc. The pitch videos of the lab winners will also be shown in a social media campaign in the run-up to the Falling Walls Remote 2020 conference and thus achieve global visibility.

A jury will vote for the 10 best topics or videos, which can be presented again at the digital live event Emerging Talents Category Day on November 4. The winner will then have the opportunity to present their topic on the big stage of the Falling Walls Day live digital event on November 9th to an audience of industry leaders, decision makers, investors and international media representatives.

What is the Falling Walls Lab?

The Falling Walls Lab is an international forum for the next generation of outstanding innovators and creative thinkers. Its aim is to promote exceptional ideas and to connect promising scientists and entrepreneurs from all fields on a global level. Participants get the opportunity to present their research work, business model, or initiative to peers, a high-calibre jury made up of experts from academia and business, and the general public - in 3 minutes each.

Each year, academic institutions are invited to host their own Falling Walls Lab and to showcase the quality, diversity, and passion of their region's most innovative minds. The most intriguing presenters of the locally hosted Falling Walls Labs travel to the Lab Finale in Berlin, Germany on 8 November. 100 Finalists present their work in front of a distinguished jury and showcase their solutions for today's pressing challenges. All finalists can attend the Falling Walls Conference where they meet the world's movers and shakers of science, business, and policy-making.
