Topic
What do we see in wood with X-ray and neutron scattering?
Presenter:
Dr Paavo Penttilä, Aalto University, FI
Summary
Wood and other renewable plant-based resources play an important role on our way to a sustainable future. The development of new applications from these abundant raw materials would greatly benefit from a more detailed understanding on their nanoscale structure. X-ray and neutron scattering methods are exceptionally suitable for such studies, because they allow nanoscale structural characterization of intact samples under various conditions. In this presentation, I will discuss what information scattering methods can provide from wood materials, concentrating especially on small-angle scattering and the effects of moisture.
Registration fee
These lectures are free and can be attended via Zoom by to up to 100 attendees.
The lectures will be recorded as well, and (with permission of the presenter) will be made available online afterwards for a broader educational reach.
