Summary
Molten salt electrolysis is a key technology in the field of extractive metallurgy. Titanium is normally produced by the Kroll process, which is a labour- and energy-intensive batch process. Electrowinning of titanium is desired due to its various efficiencies with respect to current technologies. A number of ex situ, in situ, and operando energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction experiments were undertaken on molten-salt titanium electrowinning cells to observe anode degradation and thus determine the failure mechanism and relationship between failure and electrolysis time.
Registration fee
These lectures are free and can be attended via Zoom by to up to 100 attendees.
The lectures will be recorded as well, and (with permission of the presenter) will be made available online afterwards for a broader educational reach.
