Young science

The PhD programme at BAM

Are you an above average university graduate and have a genuine interest in independent research? Are you planning to obtain a Ph.D.? Then you should talk to us!

One of the ways in which BAM actively supports the new generation of scientists is the Ph.D. programme. Currently about 140 graduate students work at BAM while pursuing their Ph.D. in science or engineering.

The process of obtaining a Ph.D. takes place at a university under the supervision of a BAM scientist who teaches at the university. It can also be done in the context of third-party funded research projects. Initially, work contracts for doctoral candidates are for 18 months and can be extended following a positive assessment. Remuneration is according to TVöD (labour contract policy framework for public servants).

The topics of technical and chemical safety are a top priority at BAM, a fact that other research establishments and industry are well aware of. Therefore BAM Ph.D. students are highly sought after experts with high market value.

Even if there are no current job openings, an application can still be worthwhile.
