The Adolf Martens Fellowship programme sponsors up to 10 foreign Ph.D. junior scientists for one year, with a possible extension for one further year.

Adolf Martens Fellows are scientific employees of BAM. Remuneration is according to TVöD (labour contract policy framework for public servants). The employment contracts may be flexibly modified according to the terms of the policy framework.

Work at a DNA sequencer

The programme was named after materials researcher Adolf Martens, who founded this branch of science 100 years ago in Germany. He wrote the first manual of materials research and actively supported young materials researchers even back then. Adolf Martens was the first director at our institute at its current location in Berlin Dahlem.

Your application should include a comprehensive description of the scientific project and the required technical infrastructure, a CV and letters of recommendation from two internationally renowned scientists in your field.
