The competitiveness of industrialised economies relies heavily on the quality of their products. Assuring and advancing this quality require a high-level measurement and testing infrastructure. The Federal Institute of Materials Research and Testing (BAM), Germany, contributes to these objectives by provision of reference materials and reference procedures for a broad range of applications. In the framework of its mission "Safety in technology and chemistry" BAM also develops and provides innovative measurement and testing technologies.
BAM has a number of particular test facilities at its disposal which are not available in any comparable form in Germany, Europe or world wide from any other institution in the framework of external services. These “unique” test facilities, and the particular testing capabilities implied, constitute a major feature of distinction for our services. This catalogue – which is also available in German – presents a compilation of unique test facilities maintained at BAM, ranging from particular large-scale facilities manufactured by order of BAM to in-house developed test systems.
Provision of costly test facilities at BAM is oriented towards current tasks and customers’ needs. Therefore the portfolio of unique test facilities is reviewed on a regular basis and an updated compilation will be published in a new edition of this catalogue when appropriate, as well as via Internet.
The test facilities listed in this catalogue are also available for other institutes for shared use in the framework of co-operations. Furthermore, these facilities may be used in a public way based on the scale of charges and fees of BAM.
