BAM specifies a symbol in co-ordination with companies for routine maintenance of IBCs which has to be included in the mandatory additional marking.
Routine maintenance of IBC covers the following activities:
a) Cleaning
b) Removal and reinstallation or replacement of body closures (including associated gaskets), or of service equipment, conforming to the original manufacturer’s specifications, provided that the leaktightness of the IBC is verified, that means removal of non-integral parts by parts conforming to the original manufacturer’s specifications
c) Restoration of structural equipment not directly performing a dangerous goods containment or discharge pressure retention function so as to conform to the design type (e.g. the straightening of legs or lifting attachments) provided that the containment function of the IBC is not affected, that means restoration of structural equipment which has no direct restraining function.
Notes:
In the following table those companys are listet, whose symbols are approved by BAM for the routine maintenance of IBCs according to the given IBC design types. Furthermore this table contains information about the quality assurance programme (QAP) of those companies who have in addition a BAM recognized QAP for the routine maintenance of IBCs for the transport of dangerous goods according to BAM-GGR 001 and whose activities are therefore monitored in accordance with BAM-GGR 001. This table is updated quarterly.
