IBCs - Recognised inspection bodies

Recognised inspection bodies for the execution of initial and recurrent inspection and testing of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) for the transport of dangerous goods

According to the internationally agreed dangerous goods regulations metal and plastics IBCs as well as combination IBCs with plastics inner containers are subject to initial and recurrent inspections and testings "to the satisfaction of the competent authority". As the competent authority, together with the concerned parties and in agreement with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs  has outlined in its Dangerous Goods Procedural Rules BAM-GGR 002 "Initial and recurrent inspection and testing of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs)" how the term "to the satisfaction" shall be understood. These rules provide for the inspection and testing by inspection bodies recognised by BAM according to specified criteria. The recognition procedure is set down in the Attachment to BAM-GGR 002. Inspection bodies shall demonstrate to BAM their organisational conditions and their professional expertise by an audit.
The validity of the recognition is limited normally to three years and may be prolonged on application based on a positive re-audit by BAM.
All recognised inspection bodies are obligatory members of the BAM-working group on inspection bodies. Alternatively the validity of the recognition is limited to one year.
The linked list of recognised inspection bodies is arranged according to its name.
