The dangerous goods legislation is aimed at protecting the population and
concerned groups of people from the risks of the transport of dangerous
goods.
It is constituted by global and European conventions and Directives by the
European Union, which are endorsed into national law under the Act on the
Transport of Dangerous Goods. It is completed by international and European
standards taken into reference in these provisions and by national rules.
Under the dangerous goods legislation BAM has been notified officially to
execute a series of testing and approval duties, such as the design type
approval of dangerous goods containment systems, the acknowledgment of
inspection bodies, quality assurance programmes for the manufacture of items
and others.
