Accreditation and Conformity Assessment

Accreditation Advisory Board (AKB)

Coordination and development of opinions in support of the external representation by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi);
Services to and preparation of meetings of the AKB as well as of its committees;
Determining general or sector-specific rules specifying or supplementing the requirements, in particular arising from legal provisions, for conformity assessment bodies and for accreditation activities;
Promoting the utilisation of accreditation as a confidence building element of conformity assessment;
The accreditation advisory board shall establish sector-specific technical advisory boards. In particular, these shall have the task of assisting the accreditation advisory board in the determination of the rules relevant to their respective sectors.
