BAM Quality Management
Aim
- Development of an overall quality management system at BAM
(e. g. DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, DIN EN 45011, DIN EN ISO
9001)
Arguments for a QM system (QMS)
-
The accredited departments and divisions of BAM require a QMS
according to ISO/IEC 17025. Many of the requested elements are already met in
the central BAM QM documentation.
-
Activities in the legal area: Precondition for the notification of
designated bodies is accreditation as a rule and therewith the implementation
of a QMS.
-
Metrology in chemistry: BAM is designated institute and signatory -
in cooperation with PTB (National metrology
institute) and UBA (Federal
Environment Agency) - of the multilateral recognition agreement of the national
metrology institutes (CIPM MRA).
Preconditions are the fulfilment of the requirements set up in ISO/IEC 17025
and ISO Guide 34.
-
Special customer requirements: BAM divisions are often asked by
customers – which are themselves certified according to ISO 9001 – about their
QMS. It can be referred to the ISO/ILAC/IAF communiqué
stating that an accredited laboratory according to ISO/IEC 17025 has
implemented a QMS, which is in conformity with the principles of ISO 9001.
-
Research work: Also in this area, a number of quality aspects have
to be respected. The DFG requests in their
„Rules of good research practice“ quality assurance measures, too.
-
Internal use of the QMS as a management tool and use of its
documentation as an instrument for know-how transfer from working generation to
working generation.
Tasks
- Regular update of the BAM quality manual
- Secretariat for the committee for quality management (AQM) and various
sub-working groups
- Coordination of accreditations within BAM
- Realisation of seminars in the field of quality management
- Advice of BAM sections when implementing, updating and modifying their
QMS.
