Quality in Testing

Competence of Testing Laboratories

The global acceptance of test reports and certificates presupposes that the respective testing laboratories and certification bodies comply with the relevant international standards for conformity assessment (ISO/IEC 17000 series). These standards specify requirements concerning the competence and the quality management systems of the respective bodies. It is the task of Division S.1 to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the relevant standards in our institute.

Furthermore, we work in the fields mentioned below:

• Contribution to the development of technical rules for quality in testing
• Conformity assessment: networking within the international and European organisations respectively

Tasks

• Active participation in committees and working groups of national and international organisations for quality in testing (e.g. EURACHEM, EUROLAB aisbl, EUROLAB-Germany)
• Providing the secretariat of EUROLAB-Germany (German section of the European federations EURACHEM and EUROLAB)
• Information system on proficiency testing schemes
  Central and national coordination of the international information system on proficiency testing schemes called EPTIS
• BAM Certification Body (BZS)
  BAM certifies products, predominantly in the mandatory area, e.g. by type testing
• BAM Quality Management
  Implementation and development of an overall quality management system in BAM (e.g. DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, DIN EN 45011, DIN EN ISO 9001)
