Acoustic Methods for Testing Building Structures

In this project non-destructive methods are developed or improved with a special focus on the inner structure of concrete elements. Ultrasonic echo and impact echo techniques are researched and applied to concrete structures. The objective is to improve the reliability of these test methods and to widen their application in practical analysis.

The German Research Council (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) supports the research group 384: Non-destructive Evaluation of Concrete Structures using Acoustic and Electro Magnetic Methods together with 6 partners in Germany. BAM participates with the sub project I: Basics of Combined Non-destructive Testing Methods of Concrete Modules including ultrasonic echo, impact echo, radar and their combination (including data fusion).
