Measurements at new track

Acceptance testing of new track

The working group deals with the long term behaviour and fatigue of railway track systems and components. A particular interest is the experimental investigation at extreme and complex loading.

Working tasks are:

Static and dynamic testing of rail fastening systems and elastic components (spring rate, fatigue strength, multi-axial investigations)
Mechanical behaviour of railway track components (ballasted track, slab track)
Analysis of dynamic loading in track sytems and their impact on permanent track deformations
Experimental investigation of the mechanical behaviour of cyclically and dynamically loaded railway track on bridges loaded. Determination of dynamic properties. Investigation of lateral stability.
Computational simulation of railway tracks and components using FEM and BEM–methods.
