We specialize in organic and inorganic building materials for road construction and engineering structues. We also cover all aspects of sealing technology. A special focus is laid on bitumen-based and resin-based materials, building products and kits. The results of research, testing and quality assurance particularly support the federal government, building authorities, manufacturers and the building materials industry. For the investigation of functional capability and durability, we favour a performance-related approach.

Method development for the structure analysis of bituminous materials

Joint sealing and expansion joint systems

• Determination of aging and fatigue behaviour of joint sealants in roads

Improvements in bridge deck sealing

• Validation of new bridge deck sealings with fast installation time

Advisory boards and consulting activities

• Collaboration in organisations for technical standardisation of bridge deck sealing (CEN TC 254)
• Collaboration in national (DIBt) and European organisations (EOTA) for technical standardisation of expansion joint systems
• Collaboration in various FGSV working committees in the field of bridge deck sealing and pavements, pavement joints and expansion joint systems
• Assessment of testing laboratories for asphalt and bituminous materials according to EN ISO/IEC 17025
• Collaboration in the approval committee for testing laboratories for asphalt and bituminous materials according to RAP Stra for Berlin and Brandenburg (RAP Stra, Guidelines for the recognition of testing bodies for building materials in the field of road construction)

Activities as testing, monitoring and certification body (PÜZ-Stelle)

• Recognised testing body for building materials in the field of road construction (Prüfstelle gemäß RAP Stra)
• The competence in bridge deck sealing and sealing of engineering structures as well as for joint sealing and expansion joint systems is recognised and notified by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development, BMVBS, and the German Institute for Building Technology, DIBt

The competence and high quality of work is accredited by the German Accreditation System for Testing, DAP, and regularly monitored by external experts.
