The serviceability of technical plants and equipment requires that materials are sufficiently resistant to corrosion in order to exclude failure during their planned design life span. The divison carries out investigations on metallic materials under practical conditions and analyses corrosion failures, especially regarding to technical plants and equipment.
Research and development projects aim at increasing the knowledge on the corrosion behaviour of materials, on protective measures and the optimisation of test methods.
