Division 5.4
Advanced ceramic materials are increasingly used for the production of components with enhanced safety demands; e. g. medical in vivo and ex vivo applications, microsystems, sensors, actuators or parts for structural applications. The requirement of high materials reliability necessitates a narrow tolerance for materials and component properties as well as the precise control of the microstructures achieved by innovative complex manufacturing technology. Within that context, the cross-linked implementation and technology-oriented advancement of materials and processes accompanying testing methods are of utmost importance.
