Thermochemical Residues Treatment und Resource Recovery

Thermochemical experiment with the pilot-scale electric arc furnace

Thermochemical experiment with the pilot-scale electric arc furnace (3-phases, 300 kVA, Tmax. ~ 2,600 °C). The melt is decanted into a graphite mould.

In a multitude of technical processes solid residues accrue that contain heavy metals and other (e.g. toxic) components causing considerable problems in re-use or deposition. However, some of the problematic components such as the heavy metals are at the same time valuable materials that should be recovered from the economical and the ecological point of view. The expertise of our group is thermochemical treatment of industrial residues and wastes aiming at detoxification and recovery of valuable materials in form of secondary resources that contribute to a sound recycling management. In order to achieve those ambitious goals we carrie out experimental research even in medium- and pilot-scale.
